The Plain City Police Department has initiated a program to combat the problem of speeding motorist within our village. In addition to our normal traffic enforcement, the police department will use a device known as the StealthStat. The StealthStat monitors the speed of every vehicle traveling on a predetermined street for a specific period of time (usually 16 hours a day.)
It also collects the following data:
· Number of vehicles.
· Highest concentration of speed violators.
· 15-minute traffic flows
· Speeds grouped in one-mph increments.
· Total, minimum, maximum, average, 50th & 85th percentile (the speed at which 50% or 85% of all vehicles are traveling) speeds.
Armed with this data, the Police Department can accurately determine the extent of any speed-related problems and take specific traffic enforcement actions based on the day(s) of the week and time of day when the study has indicated most of the speeding violations have occurred.
(The StealthStat DOES NOT record license numbers or take pictures of drivers. It is used solely to gather information for speed studies. )
A summary of all StealthStat deployments and results are listed below by street name. Click on your street to see the results. If your street does not appear and you would like to have a traffic survey completed please call Sgt. Dale McKee at 614-873-2921 to make a request.
